Those who heard him say this exclaimed, “If it is that hard, how can anyone be saved?” He replied, “God can do what men can’t!”

God's work

Luke 18:26-27 The Living Bible (TLB)

Doing my morning devotional and listening to this beautiful praise anthem (Unto God) by Planet-shakers, I was reading the passage in Luke where the rich man asks Jesus what he needs to do to enter the kingdom of heaven. I, like you, have read it many times before, but in reading it today a statement Jesus made struck me, it was as if I hadn’t seen this statement before “GOD CAN DO WHAT MEN CAN’T”

I can’t count the number of times I have tried to do God’s work for Him, the number of times I have prayed, cried out to Him, heard God say “I’ve got this” and still held onto the burden.

These words spoken by our saviour hold the key to our faith, God’s grace, and our salvation, daily I recognise and try to live by these words, understanding that if I truly believe that the God I serve is the Alpha and Omega, creator, King of kings then I must lay all before Him and let Him do what I cannot.

It’s interesting that we worry, struggle and despair daily with things that God has already dealt with, ignoring the fact that if we actually give it all to Him, surrender, and lay our burdens down, we will feel so much better. I know there have been times when I have surrendered everything to God, and the peace I feel is immense, I almost want to kick myself, thinking “what took me so long!”

No matter what you’re dealing with today, right now, make a concerted effort to surrender it to God, you are His child and He will take care of you, let Him. Don’t listen to that voice that tells you, you’re not worthy, you don’t deserve it, God won’t listen to you, don’t allow that seed of doubt that the devil has planted to drown out God’s words, remember what Jesus said….

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 New Living Translation (NLT)

GOD CAN DO WHAT MEN CAN’T make this your memory verse and mantra for today
